We wish to advise Missy Higgins is unfortunately unable to appear at tonight’s (Saturday 2 Feb) Kings Park & Botanic Garden concert due to a severe throat infection.

Said Missy: “I’ve never ever cancelled a gig in Australia over the last 15 years but I can barely croak today and unfortunately all the medical help hasn’t made much of a difference. I’m really sorry to disappoint people but they would be even more disappointed if they turned up tonight and discovered that I couldn’t sing so this is really the only option. I look forward to trying to make this up to all the Perth fans before too long.”

The show will still go ahead with John Butler Trio + performing a specially extended set. Buzzing songstress Stella Donnelly and her band will be main support and amazing up and coming local artist Carla Geneve will open proceedings.

John Butler Trio

The highest selling independent artist of all time, John Butler started his musical career from humble beginnings busking on the streets of Fremantle and Perth. By 2004 he was already an Australian star, after releasing a slew of successful projects and albums. But it was his album ‘Sunrise Over Sea’ that launched his career into new heights with the album going 5X platinum and Butler picking up an array of awards including three ARIA’s that year.

Butler has since released three other studio albums, all to incredible success (Grand National - #1 on the ARIA chart and 3X platinum, April Uprising - #1 on the ARIA chart and platinum certification and Flesh & Blood - #2 on the ARIA chart and gold certification).

In 2018 John returns with his new studio album ‘HOME’ that features the hit single of the same name which turned people’s heads for its complex mesh of poignant lyrics, industrial rhythms and a grinding electronic soul, finding its home on radio across the country. The album is released globally in September and takes listeners through an emotive sonic landscape, mirroring the vulnerabilities, joys and tensions of modern life that have shaped the last four years for John Butler.

Missy Higgins

One of Australia’s most beloved artists, Missy Higgins, has enjoyed phenomenal success with her striking voice, irresistible melodies and ‘arrow to the heart’ lyrics. With over two million albums and singles sold globally, Missy’s undeniable songs and unforgettable live performances have her highly acclaimed among fans and critics alike.

Her debut album, ‘The Sound of White’ (ARIA Album of The Year) and its lead single ‘Scar’ exploded into the world with tremendous success and set the stage for her remarkable sophomore album; ‘On A Clear Night’ (featuring North American top 20 airplay hit ‘Where I Stood’ and ‘Steer’).

After seven years of touring and recording, the nine-time ARIA Award winner quietly took a break from music in 2009 making her acting debut in Australian film ‘Bran Nue Dae’. She quickly returned in 2011 with her third #1 studio album ‘The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle’, which despite the five year wait, became the most acclaimed work of Missy’s extraordinary career.

In 2014, Missy released her fourth studio album OZ to rave reviews and has since released two standalone singles – ‘Oh Canada’ (2016), and ‘Torchlight’ (2017). ‘Torchlight’ won Best Original Song Composed for the Screen at the 2017 Screen Music Awards.

In 2018, Missy announced her long awaited fifth studio album, ‘Solastalgia’, alongside the imminent release of first single ‘Futon Couch’. Missy supported Ed Sheeran on his ÷ Tour (the largest tour in Australian history with nearly 1 million tickets sold nationwide). Upon the release of the album in May, Missy embarked on a sold-out national tour in support of the release.

Stella Donnelly

One of Australia’s most exciting up and coming singer/songwriters, Stella Donnelly, released her debut EP ‘Thrush Metal’ at the beginning of 2017 and was met with critical acclaim. The five-track release was written over the space of two years; a musical undertaking resulting in a bold and unapologetic repertoire of songs which has forged the Fremantle native to the forefront of the new guard of Australian songwriters.

After the release of ‘Thrush Metal’, Donnelly picked up multiple awards and accolades including the inaugural Levi’s Music Prize, as the ‘most outstanding talent’ at Brisbane’s Bigsound conference, a swathe of Western Australian Music Industry Awards (including Best EP, Best Folk Act, Best Single, Best Female Vocalist and Most Popular New Act), and Triple J’s ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’ award.

After announcing an international record deal with the highly esteemed US label Secretly Canadian, Donnelly went on to perform at the international SXSW conference where she was named a stand out act by The New York Times, NME, DIY Magazine, NPR, LA Times and many more. She continued her stint in the US with headline shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Seattle.

Donnelly’s brutally honest and witty observations of both people and relationships are transformed into blissful poems and lyrical punch lines on her standout debut EP ‘Thrush Metal’. Donnelly’s relatable way of writing is her lens to the world in which we live, a glimpse into what it’s like to be a millennial woman in the age of Trump, Tinder and third wave feminism.
